  1. Children grow and learn best when their learning environment is full of curiosity and encouragement. As a teacher, my sole duty is to frame or set up my classroom in such a way that it gives a large scope for learning. Pictures, story books, magazines, etc will be provided for increasing literary talents. Abacus, mathematical textbooks, number blocks, puzzles, etc will be provided for fun learning of arithmetic. Simple science experiment setups will be done for inducing curiosity for scientific phenomena. Atlas, world maps, terrain maps, etc will be provided for making children curious about geography. Similarly, in other areas, I will try to make their learning fun simultaneously making them increase their abilities. This will provide holistic development in learning.

  2. There are many ingredients and strategies that go into making a positive and thriving learning environment for children. For their safe and secure future, it’s imperative to create a learning environment that is conducive for their physical as well as mental growth. Here are a few measures that can be taken up.

1.Create Good Relationships: Building positive relationships with students is the base of creating a positive learning environment for them. The teachers need to involve kids in activities and icebreaking sessions where the teachers and students get to know each other. Creating a relationship takes time, and thus, one needs to be patient and considerate for long-lasting relationships.

2.Fruitful Communication: For building a relationship with kids or giving them a positive environment, it’s important to understand their thoughts and language. A teacher needs to use humor, tech, and other strategies to get to their level. A teacher may know the rules backward and forwards, but the students are new to the teaching style and expectations. Thus, a teacher needs to be patient and have conversations with the kids to understand their side of the story.

3.Build Trust: Showing and demanding trust in a relationship builds a great environment for students to learn and attain knowledge. Encouraging and praising them for the decisions they make or the efforts they are putting in the classrooms will build trust between a student, and a teacher, and a school plays a very important role in that.

4.Address Student’s Needs: Students, apart from physical requirements, have psychological needs as well. They require security, order, love, belongingness, fun, freedom, etc. When the teacher addresses these needs, students are happier and more engaged. And this way, learning increases.

5.Create a Sense of Order: Students need structure and are disciplined in a classroom code of conduct. The teachers need to teach students how to:
Enter the classroom and become immediately engaged in a learning activity
    Distribute and collect materials
Find out about missed assignments due to absence and how to make them up
Get the teacher’s attention without disrupting the class
    Follow instructions

  3. A positive learning environment is one of the most critical components of a skills-based health education classroom. A positive learning environment is created when you value participatory teaching and learning and when there is trust and rapport among students and between yourself and students. To establish trust that leads to true participation and engagement in learning, you first need to set the stage by establishing a learning environment in which all students feel valued, safe, and supported.

Creating a positive learning environment begins with the teacher's self-reflection, continues with planning, and then is ongoing and dynamic during the implementation of the curriculum. Maintaining a positive learning environment is a work in progress - you must always consider how to maintain a positive learning environment and must be thoughtful about how the learning environment is perceived by students.

As with curriculum development, a positive learning environment takes planning and thought. It is important to continually monitor and adapt your strategies to meet the changing needs of your students. No two students are the same and no two classes are the same. You need to be aware of the differences in your classes (e.g., personalities, dynamics, interests, strengths, learning styles) and adjust your strategies to meet your students' needs. Also keep in mind that students' needs can change within a semester, term, or year. You should do the best you can to plan ahead of time, but be aware that once you get to know your students, you may need to adjust your strategies to ensure that everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.
