  1. Distance education is a formal learning activity, which occurs when students and instructors are separated by geographic distance or by time. Learning is supported by communications technology such as television, videotape, computers, e-mail, and mail. Online learning is any learning experience or environment that relies upon the Internet/World Wide Web (WWW or Web) as the primary delivery mode of communication and presentation. There are potential benefits of investing in online learning for example, increased access, improved quality of learning, better preparation of students for a knowledge-based society, "lifelong" learning opportunity, profit making, and many more. Limitations are also evident in this popular learning environment. Among them are: (a) online learning start-up funding, (b) organizational preparedness, and (c) student readiness. This article will review the benefits and limitations of online learning from three perspectives namely, (a) the student, (b) the instructor, and (c) the tenured faculty (faculty offering the programme).

    1. I,as a teacher, generally used to provide the children with the same set of instructions.I also apply the child-centred system of learning if the situation demands. The variation in learning is very well accounted for but the testing schedules are usually fixed.
The benefit of learner -centred approach is that the learners require to be active, responsible participants in their own learning and with their own pace of learning. On the other hand, the limitation of the learner-centred approach is that it requires more skill on the part of the teacher and consumes time and resources.

At that time I am going to the students concern to solve their problems and completed the activities. Like me every teacher can do it by his/her activities.

For the slow students , i try to find out what will reason for the cause of that slow. Then i try to elaborate to teach to know better in different way. The way of teaching may be different but principle to get idea will same. Teaching type or style or design or elaborate should not be fixed to one concept everytime . We must change according to level of students from time to time.

  6. Being a teacher I experienced a lot in teaching young children. To teach young children one need to be a patience, and the teacher function need to be in a variety of roles to meet the education needs of the classroom children. A major function is decision making and plan instructional strategies to design their early childhood curriculum.

No. I don't provide the same set of instructions because all the children are not same some are fast learner and some are slow learners and they come from different family background . I instruct them according to their capacity of learning and adaptation.

Learner- centered approach help students in learning how to set and achieve their personal, education goals and Students gain an understanding of their own learning style.

In my view, using Learner-Centred approach in teaching and learning would be the best method to be applied in bringing quality and fruitful education.

  10. Children coming to school are from diverse backgrounds and contexts. Some are care and look after by their parents, provides learning situations and environment and some are not. So among the children there is a big differences in their learning pace/skills.
As a teacher, as far as possible, I try to create different learning situations, environment and instructions to their level of understanding and application but it is a big challenge for the teachers.
Child centered system of learning is good and it will help children to learn to a level of deep understanding and application. But it will create problem for slow learners if the teacher do not provide timely intervention and facilitate based on their learning levels.

  11. It is said that curriculum is what is taught in schools, instruction is how curriculum is delivered and learning is what knowledge or skill has been acquired. The aim of assessment should be “to educate and improve student performance, not merely to audit it.”

As a teacher, I firmly believe that each child (student) must be taught differently, although a common platform and books are prescribed. A learner-centered approach differs significantly from a traditional instructor-centered approach, where learners are viewed as active agents in a learner-centered approach. This is the most important benefit of learner-centered approach and it must be applied in our schools.

I hope that each and every teachers might have come across many experiences in some way or the other way.in my experience, some few years back before the pandemics started, some of my students have difficult time to coped with what was taught and some have grasped quickly the instructions that i delivered.ehat was amazing was that although i delivered same instructions for the whole classes some even ponder ,while others understand.this shows the diversity in our class room and time frame schedule was introduce so that each and everyone learns in the same pace.some limits must be there in the learners centred approach.the benefits of learners centred approach is that newer ideas and ways learning and methods of study is spread .

  17. Every student have their own unique qualities. As a teacher, I came across some students with fast learning ability and some slow learners. Most of the slow learners are found to be very slow in reading. So, I gave them some extra time for understanding the keywords to improve their reading skills.

In my opinion, the benefits of learner centered approach may be-
    1) Students develop learning and gain meaningful
    knowledge.
2)It can help to build social skills and self- esteem.
    3) Students discover that learning is interesting and fun.
    4) Students are more attentive and willing to participate in class.
    5) Students can adapt the way they learn, to make their studies more effective.
    6) Students work in teams for conceptual understanding, etc.

    Limitations of learner-centered approach-
    1) Some students do not relate well to learner centered approach inspite of teachers best efforts.
    2) Takes longer time for students so it is difficult to achieve curriculum targets
3)They complaint about being on teams.
    4) Requires special skills of teachers so that not all teachers can do or use cooperative learning.

  20. Being teacher we know that the students are different as they are coming from various family, locality, and community. However every child is unique and has the potential of greatness on their way. So as teacher we need to identify what is best for the learners.
Hence, the benefits in using a learner-centered approach are :
    i) Learner's participation increases
    ii)Learner's knowledge is retained
    iii)Develops problem solving skills
iv) It makes learning more fun

    The limitations are:
    i) It relies on teacher's ability and creativity
ii)It requires more skill on the part of teacher as well as their time and resources.

  21. As a teacher, I try to make learning fun and informative for my students. Not only making them learn alphabets and numbers, I create a wonderful environment where they can freely imagine and enjoy like telling stories, playing games, etc.

Yes, the students in general are provided same set of instructions but children who need more intensive care are taken into consideration.

Learner-centred approach is beneficial as long as it gives good outcomes like understanding of a simple concept by a child.

  22. In my opinion, all students are different in their way. They have different economic, family and parenting backgrounds. So automatically they should have a different ideology. We should teach them using different types of techniques to understand what they have been taught. As a teacher, it is very important to know the desire and will of the students individually. They should not be demotivated in their age.

Yes , all children are provided same set of instructions and fixed testing schedule. Benifits in using learner's cented approach are ;- 1. Personalized learning .2. improve knowledge retention. 3. Enhances problem solving skills. 4. Encourages further learning .etc.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Children are not all same since they come from different backgrounds. We as a teacher should able to identify each child and support all the children equally.

  27. Learner centred approach is much more beneficial to the learner as each student has different potential to learn any new topic in a stipulated time.

  28. Educators spend a significant portion of every day managing issues only tangentially related to learning. They have to repeatedly remind the same students to stop talking, stay in their seats, stop fighting, and stay awake. They may have to tackle issues at home that make it difficult for students to learn when they arrive at school. They must manage students who are hungry, bored, thirsty, understimulated, and itching for a break.
When Students gain more control over the learning process, teachers see an immediate improvement in student behavior. That means fewer classroom frustrations and more time spent teaching. Even better, teachers get to see students make connections to the material. Rather than drilling irrelevant pieces of data, teachers help students connect the things they learn to their daily lives. More engaged students means more fulfilled and less stressed education

  30. Children at the school come from different socio economic, family environment background .They have different abilities, that some are slow and some are fast learners. Some are good in scholastic areas where as some are good in sports activities. They have different inborn potentials too.
All Children can't be provided the same set of instructions because they have different learning level ,so quickly they can not be categories as winners and losers.
Therefore there is need for child centered approach, so that all students can grow at their own potential which usually persist for life.

  31. Everybody have different abilities. So all the students are not equal according to their strength of understanding what we have taught to them.We need to find out the weakest of those students who are facing the problem of understanding the problem/topic very fast and use different ways such as demostrating ,pictogram, etc and we have to let them explain what they gets from their topic which we have taught to them. Then we try to elaborate to teach them to know better in different way which i have cited above. The way of teaching may be different but principle to get idea will be the same. Teaching style should not be fixed to one concept everytime . We must change according to the level of students from time to time.We must work(try)at our best to make them understand their lesson clearly.

Learners centered approach will enable in achieving the desired outcomes of education. Therefore, learner centered approach is highly recommended even though it is quite challenging in the management and administration in the learning system.

  40. Every child has different ability, and they are unique for their own capability. So learner-centered approach is very useful as it help teacher in dealing every child, how to build social skills and be more attentive and willing to participate in the class. Students learn to work cooperatively, enjoy learning. Though learner-centered approach required a longer time for students so it is difficult to achieve school curriculum target. Teacher need special skills to master it. But then it is one of the best approach for students as they are given their own space to learn freely and joyfully, and being a teacher roll as a facilitator.

  42. The students differ from one child to another. Some are weak in learning and some are fast learners. I found most of the students weak in reading. So I used to pick out 4 or 5 weak students in the class and tutor them for 30 minutes in the morning. In the early education system all children were provided the same set of instructions and had fixed testing scheduled. In learner centred approach children loves to learn more with the whole class participation in role play, quiz etc.

  43. Each children have different capabilities that how much they can digest and understand during a fix time period of teaching learning process. So as a teacher we should give same opportunity for the weak students also as they enaged more in problem solving or practice, there will be more improvement. Therefore, learner-centred approach must be there.

  44. In the early years of teaching we tend to provide the same set of instruction and give them fixed testing schedule to all children due to various limitations.
Using a learner- centred approach provides children first hand experience of things around them and this helps to develop traits like curiosity and inquisitiveness in a child.

  45. In the early years of teaching we try to provide different sets of instruction as far as possible but it is not possible all the time. Using a learner-centred approach enable the child to explore their surrounding first hand.

  47. With the previous assessment system it is not possible to give extensive variate instructions to different students even though I try not to leave any student behind. Focusing and interacting with everyone is a good way to keep every student emmersed and interested.
Teaching shouldn't be just for the sake of teaching and covering syllabus. It's goal is to make students learn and understand what is needed. Learner-centric teaching addresses the problem of different students with different learning needs and time allocation.

  48. Each child has its own pace of learning and acquisitions of knowledge. So, I provide space and time for every child. Such learner centred teaching learning has slow pace but the outcome is holistic development of every child.

  50. So far all children were being provided the same set of instructions and had fixed testing schedules. Teaching learning proces was a time bound thing weere teachers were to complete the syllabus within a stipulated time, conduct test or exam as per the given schedule and a report card would be given out with ranking. Everything worked under a set and fixed set of rules. The individual child and his learning ability was never taken into considereation. I am happy that the new education policy is going to change all the old practices ans concepts of educating a child.

  51. The learning goals for learners have undergone major changes during the past century. Everyone expects much more from today’s learners than was expected some 10 years ago. A fundamental tenet of modern learning theory is that different kinds of learning goals require different approaches to instruction; new goals for education require changes in opportunities to learn. We need to explore the design of learning environments from four perspectives that appear to be particularly important given current data about human learning, namely, the degree to which learning environments are learner centered, knowledge centered, assessment centered, and community centered.
The benefits of learners' centered approach are immense. Learners develop learning and other skills and gain meaningful knowledge that will help them throughout life.It can help to build social skills and self-esteem. And also they gain more emotional and cognitive support from their peers. The relationship between rights and responsibilities is learned. They are more attentive and willing to participate in the class. The learner has more of an active role to play in their learning. Learners work on projects or problems in teams with both personal and team accountability for conceptual understanding. They are actively helping and motivating spirit to succeed together.
The only limitation I can think of this approach is that it requires a longer time for learners so it is difficult to achieve curriculum targets. And it requires special skills of teachers so that not all teachers can do or use of cooperative learning.

    ReplyDelete
  52. The learning in students is variable, some learn concepts very fast, some require more practice. The pathways of learning will be different for each child. Emphasis should be on how children demonstrate the competencies.
Learner- centred approach is based on activities, experiences, integration of arts/sports/technology, etc. and connecting the learner to real - life situations so that child learns to apply knowledge. Students are taught and supported based on their personal strengths and weaknesses, giving each individual student the same chance for success. They move forward when the processes used are age-appropriate and child-friendly. Children more likely achieve the expected learning outcomes

  53. Since we know that there is difference among learners in learning concepts. Some learn it faster and some need more time and practice. Some have learning environment at home from very early age and some are first generation learner. When the scenario is such, our approach must be learner centric. Learner centered approach has more benefits than limitations. Learners learn at their own pace without feeling threatened. Flexibility in approach makes children comfortable. Using play way and activity based pedagogy makes concepts clear to the students and enhances their cognitive and psychomotor aspects of life.

  54. All child are not equal. As inclusive education is followed, in our school diversity exists among students. Me as a teacher have to cater to the needs of each child. Slow learners need to be emphasized. Thus segting a standard examination for the whole class can't be expected. Following an only child centered approach for teaching brings many limitations in the class. In such a scenerio we need to teach each and every students separate ly which is not at all feasibility.

  55. Learning in children is not the same for everyone, some students are easy to learn while some are medium and still some students find it very hard to understand. So when the scenario is such, our approach should be learner centric.Learner centred approach is found to be much more beneficial. The learners learn at their own pace without the feeling of being scared/threatened.Using play way based learning is also found to be beneficial to enhance learning skill.

  58. With respect to their brought up and experiences from their immediate surroundings, each child has their own unique qualities and aptitude. Henceforth they are good in their own way.and are limited in some way or other. So we as a teacher ought to treat them with passion and reinforced to encourage them to show@ express their own potential and talent.

  59. All children are unique in one or other way. Their potential and abilities vary in different ways. Yes same set of instruction and fixed testing schedule is being provided to children. But different activities and projects are given to children to test and know their needs and requirements.Learner centerd approach help us to know the diversed requirement of each child. It help us to know the abilities and limitations of each child. One limitation of this method is that it is time consuming and different methods, techniques are also required as input.

  60. All children are more or less provided the same set of schedules but there may variations depending on the holistic development of the children as each children's learning capabilities and abilities are not at the same level. Regarding learner-centered approach there are merits and demerits as with any approach system. Some examples of merits are it improves performance, makes learning more enjoyable, improves participation, developes problem solving skills, developes collaboration in learning, helps in personalized learning. Some examples of demerits are this approach relies on the teacher's ability to develop materials that are suitable to the learner's requirements. It requires more skill on the part of the teacher as well as their time and resources.

  61. Children have different talents. No different schedules have been made for any test.Fix schedule is made at the same time. Using different strategies, they are made to understand easily though it takes much time.I think child centred approach makes teaching learning more interesting and effective.

  62. Each and every individual is different. We must all give them equal opportunity and exposure. As a teacher, we need to identify the learners at the earliest . I teach them taking into account the individual differences. However, exam schedule is same. Teaching the learners according to their level of understanding and earlier knowledge related to the subject taught is upmost necessary. Child centered education is the best as it will enable learners to learn by doing themselves . Here teacher act as facilitator. If learners are learned through activities or play way method, learner never forget in future. Most importantly we must understand the learning level, their understanding, concept related to topic taught must be thoroughgly understood by the teacher. In this approach learners learned mor effectively and longer last.

Benefit of learner centered approach are:
    1. Learners never get bored and feel happy that special care is taken according to their needs.
    2. Regular attendence of pupils increased at certain level.
    3. Learners enjoyed while learning
    4. Competency based Education.

    Limitations may include.
    1. More time taking
    2. Excellent student may be boring if repeated topic is discussed.
    3. Need various teaching aids/tools/ equipments so as to cover all type of learners.

    ReplyDelete
  63. As all children comes from different background and mindset it is duty of a teacher to let all the students feel as one soul in their classroom. An inclusive classroom has to be maintained

  64. The learner centred approach refers to applying different educational tools, strategies and methods that shift tye focus of instruction from the teachers to tye learners.
In my opinion, some benefits of this approach are- this approach gives learners tye opportunity to make personal choices about their own learning and career pathway. It also provides real life scenarios that are relevant today in the real world.

  68. Generally, all the children in a classroom are provided with same material and resources however, instruction varies depending on children's potentiality. For eg, some children are fast learner and some needs repeated explainations. Therefore variation of instructions is important.
The benefit of learner centred approach is that students are given space to discover their curiosity. Children's opinion are accounted and respected and encourage them to participate and remain active learner.
And it's limitations are if the teachers are not well trained it would be difficult to enlighten each and every child to the highest quality of education.

5 Benefits of Competency Based Education for Students
Written by Explorance. October 7, 2018

Competency based learning or education (CBE) is not a new trend, but has received much attention over the past few years as more institutions develop programs. Like MOOCs, CBE has gained popularity with learners due to its flexible structure and affordability. As the name suggests, these programs are based on the development of competencies applicable to a particular career.

What is unique about CBE is that it focuses on what students learn and not on the time spent in the classroom completing credits. In this approach, students work at their own pace to demonstrate mastery in the competencies necessary for their chosen field of study.

  83. I have experienced different children having different learning needs. So to teach them them in a time-limited learning system is a challenging task for me. So, I need to come down at their level, plan and design the teaching methodology by monitoring their learning levels. That is why, I should provide them different sets of instruction and testing schedules in learning according to their needs.
    Benifits of LCA ___
    i) It ensures holistic development of child.
ii) It enable children to become active, motivated, independent, integrated, inclusive, enjoyable and engaged readers and writers with comprehension possessing sustainable reading and writing skills.
    Limitation of LCA____
    i) It requires a longer time for students so it is difficult to achieve curriculum targets.
ii) It requires more skill on the part of the teacher as well as their time and resource.

  84. As I find different types and level of students in the early years l never try to provide them the same set of instructions. And also their testing schedules and patterns are not same before the main tests. In my opinion, learner centered approached of education is quite good, it provides learners always active so that they can participate in learning the things easily. This system will enhance the learners in memorising what they have learned.

  85. I,as ateacher first begin by providing opportunities for children to have spontaneous, unstructured child initiated play experiences. They are provided with opportunities to think, plan and carry out their play . Applying child centred system of learning to children when situation demands and apply the learned lessons through everyday life.

No,I do not provide the same set of instructions but I do have fixed testing schedule so that students cope up with time and provide them with a deadline. As per scenario,as all children are unique with different ables and disables ,special care and attention are given to those children who are lacking behind so that they can match with others.

Advantages of learned centred approch are
it helps to buid social skills and self esteem, boost performance at work ,develops problem solving skills, makes learning more fun , facilitates personalized learning, improves retention of knowledge, etc.

  86. Usually children are provided more or less the same set of instructions and have fixed testing schedules .But as there are differences in the levels of language skills , visual-motor skills, social readiness, varied levels of oral language development and diversity in home atmosphere among children, learning in students is variable. So the time spent and pathways of learning are advised to be different for each child .
The benefits of learner-centerd approach ensures each child to acquire foundational learning . Where as the limitations is that it requires a teacher to spent more time than usual and it affects other students as well.

  87. As a teacher, I provided to the students different activities to perform by their own knowledge. They have different qualities.

  88. It is my long experience that all students are different in the levels of learning skill and development. But as a teacher, I try to achieve the goal of competency of their grade by supporting and teaching their weak areas with the help of continuous assessment.

  89. In early years, l provided the same set of instructions but found that some are slow learners. So to coop them up with fast learners l reteach them again.. For the assessment we have testing schedules.
In my view, using Learner-Centred approach in teaching and learning would be the best method to be applied in bringing quality and fruitful education.

  91. Students are different from one another in many aspects we must care for them and try to sharpen the work they are good at.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Children are unique and all are different in one or the other way . Hence applying the same set of instruction to test their capacities and potential is not fair. I give same as well as diffrent set of instruction for testing the children.Learner centered appraoch is the best but it is time consuming and requires a lot of input.

  93. Education is necessary for every child to to live up to their dreams .Each child is unique and and they are good in their own way so we should treat them with passion and encourage them to show their own talent.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Children are of different skill and coming to school with different experience. So we use to teach them through competency base which means we use different technique to make the students learn positively.

Learner-centred approached helps students developed and knowledge.
But again it requires more experience and skill teacher.

  95. No, all children are not provided the same set of instruction, it is given according to the learning pace of individual students.
Learner centred approach is very helpful especially in the diverse classroom, slow learner students were given extra care and attention to improve their knowledge.

    ReplyDelete
  96. In the early years children are provided with the same set of teachings regardless of the background of the student. Children are taught from text books and schools curriculum. Their knowledge is tested based on fixed schedule testing (written test/exams). All children have different capabilities and power of learning. Fixed schedule testing does not give the result of their full potential. Learner centered approach will benefit both the teacher and student in sorting the potential and abilities of the student. Learner centered approach is more involving in learning and is a two way process between teacher and student: student and teacher against the earlier method which is a one way process - teacher to student.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Every students comes from different background. All students have individual, cultural, evironmental differences. Learner-centred approach is more effective and flexible, helpful to students.

    ReplyDelete
  98. The background and the environment from which the children hail from will have varying impacts on their ability to assimilate knowledge. All children are given equal scope to learn but there will be cases in which some will require patience and a deeper understanding of their traits. It's important as an educator to ensure that the learner is put first. The learner centered approach is the most efficient method in a diverse classroom.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Till today students are taught facts and a defined syllabus, which are not based on their understanding and skills. Not all student are equip with the same knowledge and skills. For eg. A student might be good in solving mathematical problems while the other might be good and interested in sports ,art etc. The CBE should be implemented in all schools in the country. This should be national mission.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Learner centered approach transecnds the limitations a learner might have due to his/her background, upbringing etc. It ensures that despite their shortcomings a teacher can achieve all objectives with the learner with care and patience.

    ReplyDelete
  101. The learner centred approach or student centred learning refers to applying different education tools , strategies and methods that shift the focus of instruction from the teacher to the learners it puts the learners interest first to keep them engaged.

    ReplyDelete
  102. As a teacher, we needs to be patience and functions in a way to meet the needs of children in the classroom. We should decisive decision and plan instructional strategies to design curriculum for the children.

No, I don't gave same set of indinstructi to the children because they are not the same in learning pace. As the childs comes from different family background, some are fast learner while others are slow.. I gave them instruction as their learning capabilities and adaptation.

Learner-centered approach help students in their learning. It helps them with the way to set and achieve their personal and educational goals. It also makes them understand their own learning style.

    ReplyDelete
  103. The benifit of learner- centred approach is that the learners required to be active, responsible participants in their own learning and their own pace of learning. On the other hand the time limitation of learner-centred approach is that it requires more skill on the part of the teacher and consumes time resources.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yes, I provide the same set of instructions and have fixed testing schedules. But as the capacity of each children differs, I continuously taught them the lessons or activities with patience until each and every one of them understands it. Thus, their knowledge upon my particular subject is on the same level eventhough one is a quick learner or a slow learner.

The limitations in using a learner-centre approach is that the syllabus of the given year were slowed which leads the teachers to speed up the lessons without having to consider whether the students understands or not.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Though the general learning outcomes and pedagogies are same , we as teachers should strive to tailor the approach to the needs of the child so that it suits their specific needs and have better outcomes.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Every child is different accordingly they learn differently. We should not use the same parameter to assess a child learning. It should be a combination of different methods and techniques to assess children learning abilities.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Children are coming from different family background as a result their behavior are different. So in learners centre method we can't give same instructions in teaching learning process. Depending on their capacities and understanding we can varied our method of instructions.

    ReplyDelete
  108. All the children are provided the same sets of instruction and have fixed testing schedules. But as all children are different in their learning capacity, I implement various strategies in teaching and gave time bound in doing their exercises and activities to bridge the gap of their understanding level.
In fact there is a limitation in the student. But using a learner center approach much helps the slow learner as it is learned According to their pace and understanding.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Learner centred approach incorporate their interest and skills in children

  110. Children from every section of the society came to study in our school. Every child is unique. This uniqueness becomes more prominent in the area where I am teaching. Children of different economic strata plays a major role in shaping the early stage of life. As a teacher, we use to reach out to the different requirements within our capacity so that the child develop holistically.

    ReplyDelete
  111. As per the board syllabus, we follow the same schedule but we gave extra effort to those student who are slow learner, by allowing student participation in class we can identify those student as they came from diverse family background, so different strategy need to be applied.
Some of the benefits of using "learner center approach" are we can increase student participation and their interest in a particular topic by allowing them to open up their thought, interest area exhibiting their strength, thereby making a heathy learning environment for all the learners.
Sometimes it is difficult to complete some of the syllabus as it is a fixed time bound activity.
Thus requiring more skills and experience teaching technic and methodology to cover the syllabus on time while focusing on the quality.

  112. In the past decades or two the system of teaching has changed significantly.the learner's adapt according to the changed introduced. There are more differences among students than there used to be in early years.technology has created new ways for students to learn.public and educators pay more focus than in the past.according to my experience as a teacher, instructing students with the same set of instructions and testing skills with implementing new sets and skills when demanded is necessary nowadays. The benefits of learner centered approach is that students learn how to set and achieve their personal, educational goals, develop critical thinking and self-reflection skills

    ReplyDelete
  113. Children in a class are from different family backgrounds. They have different levels of skills therefore I give them different testing modes , and it is advisable for all teachers.

    ReplyDelete
  114. In the early days of schooling of the children, same set of instruction are provided to the children. But in few days, the learning abilities and differences of their skills are easily known to us. Keeping this differences in our mind we plan teaching strategies so as to cope up their differences. In the previous years fixed testing schedule is accounted but now different modes of testing is done. The benefits of learner centered approach is that students learn how to set and achieve their personal, educational goals, develop critical thinking and self-reflection skills.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Reflecting myself to the past experiences,i provide the same set of instruction and testing schedule but do care for the slow learners by applying diffrent strategies and techniques as all students have a unique ways of understanding.

The benefits of learner-centred approach are as follows:
    1. Each individual child understand the topic in their own ways.
2.They have the courage to open up their problems to the teachers.
3.They are eager to know more when taught individually and fully understood and more confident and excited to take part in group activities.

The limitation is that as a teacher we need to update ourself regularly to bring up the best from the students and need to produce more stratagies of teaching styles to avoid the boredom of students as the same technique cannot last forever. For that, teachers need to undergo more trainings with a very limited time,at the same time to cover the syllabus with a stipulated given period.

  116. School is an institution comprising of children with different characters and behaviour. Therefore it is important for us as a teacher to teach them according to their speed, IQ level and accept them the way they are from the early age. This particular FLN approach is significantly important for this approach is inclusive of all children irrespective of their IQ level or characters, this will enable the children to enjoy theit learning and enhance their life in different aspects and develop into a refined students with lots of potential.

  117. Children are being provided the same set of instructions and testing in the school.

lt stimulates early brain development.lt allows children to create and imagine, which is an important aspect of child-centered education.Teachers take cues from the child to learn what they are interested in.This helps them to create an appropriate lesson plan.

  118. Different students have different qualities and values but i do not differentiate according to their different abilities. Some of students get idea very fast and some get slow. Children from every section of the society came to study in our school. Every child is unique.

  120. The same set of instructions to all children in the classroom is not possible always. Because, some children can learn things very quickly while some could not. So,depen depe on the nature of the leaner,we,as a teacher, sometimes, need to adapt/adjust ourselves to the child's learning capabilities.
So,in my opinion, learner--entred approach is very crucial and played a vital role in in the teaching-learning process.

  129. Huirem Ashalata devi As a teacher, I firmly believe that each child (student) must be taught differently, although a common platform and books are prescribed. A learner-centered approach differs significantly from a traditional instructor-centered approach, where learners are viewed as active agents in a learner-centered approach. This is the most important benefit of learner-centered approach and it must be applied in our schools.

  133. Reflecting on my teaching experiences, I have had the opportunity of teaching children from mostly poor family background. So most of them lacked foundational support and were weak on foundational literacy. This did become a difficulty while teaching but as I also learn by way of teaching them, I managed to adjust as per the situation and took my own time to pay individual attention to each child as per their needs and accordingly had varied schedules.
Learner centred approach definitely helps in getting us to know the child better and help teach them accordingly.

  134. Instruction to children in the early stages should be minimal in content but detailed information. They should be taught in such a way that they understand almost every word used by the teacher. Learner centred education is very important because it is this type of learning that enhances childrens ideas and grasp better understanding.

In my Openion the Benifits of Student-centered learning is -
#This approach to curriculum gives power to learners.
#Students see their needs clearly reflected in the classroom, which is very motivating.
#It creates a direct link between classwork and the learner’s needs.
#Learners can easily transfer new skills in day to day activities.
    #It encourages learners persistence.

    and the Limitations are -
#It often relies on the teacher’s ability to create materials appropriate to learner’s expressed needs.
#It requires more skill on the part of the teacher as well as their time and resources.
#It is often difficult for teachers to make an acceptable balance among competing needs and interests of students.
#In terms of man, material and resources this approach could be a luxury that learners often can not afford.

  137. As a teacher.I experienced to teach a lot of young children .To teach young children teacher needs patience . As we all know that all fingers are not same so we cannot teach all students in same teaching methodologies because some students are weak and some good learner while some of them are average students .
So as a teacher I would instruct them as per thier capacity and strength and thier adaptation power .
Regarding benefit /limitation in using learner centered approach help students in learning and how to set and achieve thier personal education goals and understanding of thier own learning style.
The benefits of using learner centered approach are
    1.personalized learning
    2 .improve knowledge
    3 .enhance problem solving scheme.
    4.encouraging further learning etc

  142. In our education system, the emphasis is on completion of the syllabus and conducting the examinations. The child is expected to learn the course contents in a stipulated time. We forget that children from diverse backgrounds having different learning needs and we stick to the same type of instructions and test for the entire class. We sometimes try to actively engage every child individually as per the child’s capability and help them to learn but we are unable to do the same throughout as we do not have the time and resources for each child.
Learner centred approach can help overcome the drawbacks of the traditional way of teaching and learning by taking into account the diverse contexts and backgrounds, readiness for school, age differences, languages and differential learning needs. Since some learn concepts very fast, some require more practice; formative assessment can help us plan the time every child needs to spend for learning and ways of learning. The limitation is that we do not have the time nor the resources available to cater to every individual needs in the school.

  149. Being a teacher, our very first role is to understand each child's capabilities and weaknesses and accordingly give them the instructions of learning in their way. Each child is different so giving them the same set of instruction or forcing them to follow equally will be totally wrong so, teachers should first understand the abilities and the capabilities of the children and teach them or guide them accordingly.

  155. Yes, in a class room all children are provided the same set of instructions and they also have same fixed testing schedules in the learning process. However, children have different levels of learning because children come to school from different backgrounds and contexts. Some children have parents and adults in the family who engage with them. They play, tell stories, provide interactive language experiences, provide safety, connections and high quality routines, which are enriching and interesting for children.

On the other hand there are children who have experienced less fortunate early childhood years, without secure attachments, safety and connection, good nutrition and rest, and without enriched learning opportunities. As a result, children have differences in readiness for school when they begin preschool or kindergarten.

And in the kindergarten level the benefits of learner-centred approach is to make children to be able to read, write and understand their lessons well at the end every chapter or whatever, this will be the best outcome of the children in the preschool education.

Most of the time the focus is on completing the syllabus without monitoring whether children are learning to a level of deep understanding and application. When similar instructions are provided and one time testing is used for all the children, without considering their learning levels, children are quickly categorized as winners and losers. By the end of third grade, children have settled into patterns of learning that usually persist for life.

  156. The benefits of learner centered approach is, we can make the student understand the concept by participating them in learning process and the only limitation, what I can see is, the process is a little bit time consuming.

I don't use same method of transaction for every learner,I consider their differences and needs.
Child centred learning will prove to be a blessing for a child .it involves learners in learning process, increase retention in learning, can remove rote memorization, can increase creativity, critical thinking , innovative ideas in learners.
Like every coin has two sides, the learner centred approach has also its own good and bad sides.
    It's demerits can be
    It can be time consuming.
Well trained experience teachers will be needed
Syllabus will never be completed on time.

For me, same set of instructions is provided to the entire class alongwith fixed testing schedule however variation in learning as well as testing is very much accounted for like reteach a lesson, chapter etc based on the students progress and putting up as much as one word/one sentence answer, fill in the blanks questions in tests and exams etc. Benefits of learner-centered approach are too many so also limitations, like time consuming process, boring for other children, fixed and time bound process etc.

Learner centred approach is necessary very much necessary to give equal opportunities to all the children in class. And I also try to enquire to the needs of different children in the class.

I do provide the same set of instructions and have fixed testing schedules. But as the capacity of each child differs, I try to teach them the lessons or activities with patience until each and every one of them understands it even though some of them are quick learners some are slow .

  163. The competency-based education (CBE) approach allows students to advance based on their ability to master a skill or competency at their own pace regardless of environment. This method is tailored to meet different learning abilities and can lead to more efficient student outcomes.

Why is competency based education important?

Competency based learning creates students' learning approach by creating appropriate activities in a suitable environment where students apply their knowledge and skills. We create a proper system of assessment and grading in Competency Based Learning where students demonstrate their competencies.

The 6 main principles of competency based education are :

    1) Equity is set before all else. ...
    2) Classes emphasize measurable competencies that help build skills for life. ...
    3) Transparency helps students take ownership. ...
    4) Students get the support they need individually. ...
5 ) Teachers assess for growth and mastery.

In my opinion, the Advantages Leaner Centered Learning are :

    1. Students develop learning and other skills and gain meaningful knowledge that will help
    them throughout life.
    2. It can help to build social skills and self-esteem.
    3. And also students gain more emotional and cognitive support from their peers.
    4. The relationship between rights and responsibilities is learned.
    5. Students discover that learning is interesting and fun.
    6. Teachers have less traditional work to do.
    7. Students are more attentive and willing to participate in the class.
    8. Complaints about irrelevance and unfairness decrease.
    9. Reports and papers generated by students increase a teacher's collection of useful
    information.
    10. The pupil has more of an active role to play in their learning.
    11. Students can adapt the way they learn, to make their studies more effective.
    12. The ideal situation for this type group work is that weaker students should be placed with
more able students to act as scaffolding.
    13. Students work on projects or problems in teams with both personal and team
    accountability for conceptual understanding.
    14. Students work together in achieving goals by upholding the norms of the group.
    15. Students are actively helping and motivating spirit to succeed together.
    16. Active role as peer tutors to further enhance the group’s success.
    17. Interaction between students with increasing their ability to argue.
In addition to these advantages of cooperative learning also have shortcomings,
according to Dees including the following:
    Disadvantage
    1. It requires a longer time for students so it is difficult to achieve curriculum targets.
    2. Take a long time for teachers so that teachers in general do not want to use cooperative
    learning.
    3. It requires special skills of teachers so that not all teachers can do or use of cooperative
    learning.
    4. Specific nature of student demands, such as the nature likes to work together.

In a primary level, children come to school from different backgrounds and contents. Some children's engages with parents .They play, tell stories, provides interactive languages experience , provides safety, connections and high quality routine , which are enriching and interesting for children. On the other hand there are children who have experienced less fortunate early lchildhood years..As a teacher after recognizing each an individual student I guide and apply Formative Assessment ability to adjust in real time by clearly identifying the key areas when students needs improvement and chance for success.

  166. Yes it is well known fact that all children are unique in different ways with different potentials in different fields. Some may be good in reading, some may be good in drawing and some may be good in sports. We need to cater and nourish these different potials of children so that they excel in these different fields. I prefer providing different set of instructions for children based on their differences for testing them. Besides different methods and techniques are also used to access their achievement. Learner centered approach is best to know children's achievement as it caters to the children's unique potentials, needs, different backgrounds and experiences. Learner centered appraoch needs more time , experience, labour and techniques from the teacher's side.

Learner- centered approach help students in learning how to set and achieve their personal, education goals and Students gain understanding of their own learning style.

  170. There is same set of instructions and fixed testing schedules for the summative assessment but variations of learning is accounted at the time of formative assessment as each child is different.
Learner- centered approach is essential as each child is unique in their own way, they might also come from different and diverse social backgrounds, and their speed of learning may be different. But the teacher needs more time, energy, dedication and support from other colleagues and head teachers.

  171. I came across students who are fast learner and slow learner and also children with differently able all sitting together in a class, so I never give the same instructions to the entire class. I focus more to the students with special needs. Like if we recite a poem the fast learner recites and learn faster so, I recites more together with the slow learner and teach them with patience. So considering the diverse contexts and backgrounds, languages, and differential learning needs children are provided different sets of instructions as learning in students is variable , some learns concepts very fast and some needs more time. The time spent and pathways of learning will be different for each child. As for testing schedules summative assessmentl have fixed schedule but formative assessment does not have fixed testing schedules as teachers determine where each child is in the learning process and adjust their teaching as necessary.
The benefits in using learner centered is that it gives confidence, experiment and experience new things, developed problem solving, team work, decision making, etc.
The limitations of learner centered approach is that it consumes more time , needs teachers skill and students readiness and willingness.

  172. Being as a teacher, what i would like to say is that every child have their own calibre so some use to learn fast some slow. And, as we all know Learner- centred approach are totally based on activities, experiences, integration of arts, sports, technology which made to connect the learner to real - life situations so that they can easily cope about it. As, the thing is every children have different background different parenting system, so we must deal accordingly to it. and we should not made them discourage in their learning. Lastly Learner - Centred Approach is of very useful technique.

  175. There are varied benefits or limitations in using a learner-centred approach. It is new approach in which the teaching system are modified. It help in children how to read and learn before start going for school, simply which mean it made readiness for School. So, as a teacher i hope and think so that this will be the best outcome of the children in the preschool education. As, we know most the teaching style is just for completing the syllabus only rather than made understand the value of the syllabus towards the children which made trouble to the children at the same time. The most important thing what i would like to share is that, being as a teacher we must understand the background of each and every students which is the most crucial points. From this all the things about mentality starts. So, learner-centred approach made it overcome all such kind of traditional ways of teaching towards the children.

  176. As a teacher first of all what i would like to say is our system of teaching children is of old ways. Because here we focus only for obtaining good marks to cover syllabus, etc. Not thinking even a single benefit for children on how shall we must made children to know or made them understand the concept of the topic taught. And we all know that the most important is to know the concept first. But after a new technique that is learner-centred approach made the children feel very enjoyable in studying, made them ready for school. Simply it made it easier for the children. So, which is of great benefit found towards the children.

  177. In the early years, all children are being provided the same set of instructions and have fixed testing schedules in which some of the children could not catch up at the same pace. So, the outcome is affected and that is not learner-centred approach, rather it is covering syllabus in time bound approach.
But in the competency model, instruction is designed to match the developmental readiness of the students. Students are given instruction at their personal level of readiness for as long as necessary to achieve complete competency. Moving to the next level is not determined by time or age but by the mastery of the competency. With such flexibility students enjoy learning and become successful learners

Benefits of child centered approach is that it gives deeper understanding and retention of what is being learnt in their own pace but it requires extensive devotion and time on the part of the teacher. It can turn out to a boredom and distractive to some students if the teacher can't organise time and activities effectively.

  181. There came a varied benefits in using a learner-centred approach in our daily life. As know children are enjoying in learning, it made fully understand of what is being taught to them. The Learner-Centred approach help in children for school readiness. It made them to feel curiosity in learning. As comparing to our old ways of teaching it just focus on just completing the syllabus only and to score marks. Due to such kind of new approach it has help both to teachers and children.

  182. All children are provided the same set of instructions and testing schedules but considering the understanding and reasoning level of the learners.Benefits of learner-centred approach is that learners actively and attentively participate in the teaching-learning process. One limitation of learner-centred approach is that it is time consuming which eventually affects in the completion of syllabus within the stipulated time.

  183. As a teacher, our traditional ways of teaching is of very bad, because children find it very difficult themselves to understand, after all teacher must also understand that each and every children have different background some learnt fast some slow, so we must know and adjust teaching according to them. But due to such kind of new approach here it help children for school readiness, learn in a very joyful ways, children become active in their learning, we got many benefits. But regarding the limitations in using a learner-centred approach is that it needs knowledge mainly to teacher on how to teach, otherwise it becomes difficult on how to teach.

  184. As from my experience all the students have their own strategy of learning process, some are fast catch up, some are slow catch up, as a teacher i used to have patience while teaching otherwise slow learner will goes on back. And our teaching style are also traditional ways, mainly many schools just focus on completing the syllabus too. But know many benefits are getting when using a learner-centred approach, here children are teach on how to help in building social skills, self esteem, help in problem solving skills and makes learning more easy and fun too, which facilitates personalized learning, etc. The limitations is that if teacher does not have full knowledge about it, learner-centred approach will be of no use.

  186. All the children are not same, some are fast learner and some are slow learner. So, I don't provide the same set of instructions. I instruct them according to their capacity of learning and their abilities.
The benefit of learner - centred approach is that the learners require to be active, responsible participants in their own learning and with their own pace of learning.
The limitations of the learner centre d approach is that it require more skill on the part of the teacher, patience and consumes time and resources.

As learner-centred approach is a very useful program from here children are able to learn in a very easy, fun ways, able to understand the concepts clear leaving no room for doubt, etc. which made children ready for school. Learner-centered approach help students in their learning style a lot, it helps them how to set and achieve their own personal gain and educational goals. Which makes them understand their own learning style in a very meaningful ways. This are some of the benefits of Learner-centered approach, whereas, if the teacher are not trained properly then many limitations will be arise.

As the present system of education is focused on completion of the syllabus, we usually give the same set of instructions to all the children. But we are teachers we can't always stand and talk in front of the students. We should consider the individual differences such as physical characteristics, abilities learning style etc and arrange the learning environment accordingly. Yes there's a fixed testing schedule. Benefits of learner's centred approach: Children love this way of learning so learning becomes relevant and fun thereby takes away boredom and frustration. They will gain a better understanding of their own learning and shows immediate improvement in their behaviour. Limitation: It takes a long time and difficult to achieve curriculum target.

The main benefit is that every children are able to learnt in a very fun manner, which made them feel understand the concepts more fast. Helping them for school readiness too. Help them in understanding topic fast without time lag, able to think logically in their future aspects too. Whereas, the limitations is that all the teachers need to be well trained about this new technique otherwise teachers would not be able to teach properly to children. After all this Leaner - centred approach is of very useful thing.

It is not fair to give a same typical teaching to such students of different mentalities, abilities etc. Here feels the importance of learner centre education. So, before explaining the chapter I let my students read the paragraph and explained to them so that they would improve their reading skills.

With learner- centered approach, students develop learning and other skills and gain meaningful knowledge that will help

Some may have slow learning process so the pace of learning would not be the same for all. What I would do then was to help improve the reading skills of the slower kids as the problem usually stems from that.

Learner-centered approach improves participation, improves retention of knowledge, boosts performance at work, develops problem-solving skills, fosters collaborative learning, facilitates personalized learning and makes learning more fun.
But, it often relies on the teacher's ability to create materials appropriate to learner's expressed needs.
